Dear Brothers/Sisters,

NOTICE OF INFORMATION ON THE PAYMENT OF OVERTIME ALLOWANCE.
The Executive Committee of Senior Staff Association, University of Cape Coast would like to bring to the attention of all members that the University Management has invited the Executive Committee of the Association to a meeting today Thursday, 16th May, 2019 at 3:00pm to continue the negotiation on the payment of overtime allowances to members of senior staff.
Previous Discussions with University Management
Per the meeting with University Management on 18th February, 2019 the house agreed that overtime allowance of about 400 senior staff should not prevent the payment of entire February salary of the University Staff, therefore, February salary should be paid without overtime allowance. Management agreed to communicate this development to members of staff.
After several engagement in writing with the University Management on the issue of payment of overtime allowance to senior staff, the Senior Staff Association, University of Cape Coast (SSAUCC) finally wrote a communique on the union’s position on the issue, requesting Management to meet the union by 23rd or 24th April, 2019 to resolve the impasse and that failure to do so would leave the union no option than to allow our members to withdraw their services effective 2nd May, 2019.
University Management Proposal to the Union Executives.
A meeting was held on 23rd April, 2019 at the Council Chamber at 1:00pm and Management proposed a call-in-allowance in place of the overtime allowance.
The Management asked the Executives of SSAUCC if they could pay the affected staff with the call-in-allowance but the Executives responded with the following that:
a. The call-in-allowance would be to the disadvantage of our members and cannot be applicable to the FWSC directives dated 19th March, 2019.

b. There’s the need to meet our constituent and all affected staff to discuss Management proposal and
c. In relation to point (b) Management should furnish the union with the call-in-allowance calculated figures.

We therefore entreat all members to channel their concerns on the overtime payment issues to be discussed at the meeting with Management to the secretariat or the secretary of the association on whatsapp number 0243917111 by 12:30pm today.
Please, the meeting with Management was officially communicated to us yesterday and we apologize for the short notice and any inconvenience caused.
Thank you.
